Michigan Arson Prevention Committee

The function of this group is to publicize the activities of the MAPC. This is done in a variety of ways including providing material to the mass media...newspapers radio and television. This subcommittee has produced a number of publications including a film on arson, which is in constant use. Posters have been developed and produced as well as pamphlets and other informational and educational materials. This subcommittee also provides public service announcements to all television and radio stations in Michigan.

The main thrust of the Public Awareness subcommittee's activities surround Arson Awareness Week. The first week in May each year, the Governor signs a declaration proclaiming it Arson Awareness Week. During this period, the subcommittee informs the public in a number of different ways about the seriousness of this crime. We also announce an award for Prosecutor of the year, as well as announcing the winners of the MAPC's Poster Contest.
