Michigan Arson Prevention Committee

This subcommittee conducts on-going studies and reviews existing and proposed legislation to help control arson. This group evaluates the financial and social impact of governmental activities as they relate to prevention of arson, to detection of the crime of arson, as well as to the enforcement action in response to arson.

The Governmental Resources subcommittee seeks information as to current and projected resources available to combat arson in Michigan. This is done in order to assist in formulation of future plans and development of more effective means of reducing or eliminating arson here.

This subcommittee meets bi-monthly and consists of a subcommittee chair and eight members from within the MAPC.

MAPC Seeking Input On Expanding Auto Arson Law
The MAPC Government Affairs Committee is currently considering seeking a legislative change that would expand a 2000 law that requires insureds who have their vehicles burned to file a report with the local law enforcement agency.
