Michigan Arson Prevention Committee
MAPC Education Subcommittee

The MAPC's Education subcommittee plans and coordinates seminars and schools, as well as training programs for investigators, insurance personnel, underwriters, claims persons, lawyers, prosecutors, fire and police officers, municipal and other local officials, and business leaders. These training sessions draw hundreds of persons annually helping them to increase their skills in arson knowledge, detection and prevention, causes and origins of fires, trends and motives of arsonists, subrogation and fraud fires, prosecution and court procedures, collecting evidence, laboratory and photography techniques, and legal sanctions related to arson and fraud fires.

Other education programs are provided in the form of audio visual materials in Michigan's school systems, contests of varying kinds, such as poster contests and other educational concepts to make young persons in Michigan "arson conscious".
