Michigan Arson Prevention Committee

The Arson Control subcommittee oversees the reward program. They meet bi-monthly to review reward requests on information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of anyone on arson charges. This subcommittee wants to encourage persons and/or reluctant witnesses with information regarding an arson to report it to Arson Control by using the TOLL-FREE hotline 1.800.44.ARSON or by email or to the investigating authorities.

The Arson Control subcommittee of the Michigan Arson Prevention Committee is the final authority on all reward requests. Since its inception $660,000 has been granted to tipsters for information that leads to the arrest and/or conviction of persons responsible for arson fires.

The Arson Control subcommittee also provides authorities with reward posters that can be placed at fire scenes that have been determined to be arson fires.

Arson Reward Program ‘Hot’
The MAPC’s Arson Control Program is putting arsonists where they belong - behind bars. In 2007, the program awarded 12 requests and put 33 individuals behind bars for arson and related crimes.
